Vampire Gala
The first annual Vampire Gala was in October of 2012. I was asked to be the Spokesperson and Emcee of this great event, hosted by the non-profit group Our Hearts, Our Families, Our Community. This group's mission is to provide sensible solutions for community members experiencing crisis. Our Hearts is inspired by one woman's battle with cancer, Jaimie Metzker, who recently lost her battle with cancer in December of 2013.
I gained much experience through helping this group, from marketing to planning, and made many local media connections. I was able to promote this event by appearing on air, writing Press Releases and making connections with other non-profits in the area.
I was able to do the same thing, with more knowledge, this year during the 2nd annual Vampire Gala. It was a blast and raised money to help those in our community who were experiencing medical crises. I am looking forward to next year, where our theme will be Vampires: Cirque. Stay tuned for more details as the planning has already begun.

LunaFest: Short Films For, By, About Women
Zonta International is a group that has recognition at the United Nations in New York. It is a group comprised of women who are business owners and professionals, all with the mission of promoting women in the world and tackling tough women's issues.
This film festival is occurring on International Women's Day, March 8, 2014. Premiering all over the United States, I have had the honor of being a part of promoting it here in Reno. I have used social media, media connections in the area and taking to the streets to make this event even better than last year. Members of the club and myself have appeared on television and radio interviews and are getting the word out about how this event's proceeds go toward the Breast Cancer Fund and a few other non-profits in the area who help women regarding the issue of human trafficking, this area's adopted theme of the year.
I am blessed to be a part of it. My own daughters are going and volunteering during the event. I can't wait!

Aesthetically Speaking
Aesthetically Speaking is a new business that is opening in Midtown.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Alana Davis for the last 12 years, as I have followed her to each salon she worked from as an aesthetician. She is wonderful at her craft, loves people and truly cares about making a difference in people's lives.
As she began her foray into owning her own business, I have been by her side, helping her navigate the marketing and promotion aspects of her business. I set up a simple and practical website, as well as set up social media tools for her to promote her business. Within days, she was up and running, baring her business license and getting her place in order. It was fun for me, a blessing for her, and I learned quite a bit about business marketing through helping her.
If you'd like to visit her site, you can get a feel for what can be done in a matter of days to get your business up and running. Click here for Aesthetically Speaking's Website

Rainshadow Community Charter High School
I have had the honor of being a full-time English teacher at Rainshadow Community Charter High School. As a charter school, we must raise funds for the majority of our budget.
One of many fundraisers that I have been a part of was a series of monologues made into a play called "Charter School." I myself wrote a monologue for it, and it was a hit.
As part of this fundraiser, I played a major part in promoting it to media outlets.
It was successful and played a big part in actually saving our school, as our budget was in the red and we were threatened with having to close the doors. This school is one of the longest running charter high schools in the area and was voted "Best Charter School" in Reno by the community in the Reno News and Review. I am honored to have played a part in marketing this great school and I get to be a part of some wonderful students in the area. I will continue to give my time to promote the school in any way that I can. If you'd like to learn more about Rainshadow Community Charter High School, click here.
