My life started out the traditional way, with wonderful parents and an amazing sister in the culture and ways of the Midwest.
After attending college, obtaining a B.A. in English, and playing basketball on a full ride scholarship at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, my then husband and I, Devon Reese, moved to his hometown of Reno, Nevada.
We had a wonderful life, three beautiful kids and served faithfully in Christ's church. Our path took a drastic change in course when Devon came out of the closet. That time was trying in my life, but I amazed myself at my ability to overcome, change, accept and adapt my life to what was given me. After going through some paradigm shifts in my thinking and beliefs, I now embrace our Rainbow Family and live with the security that it is possible to have a mixed family and raise our kids together amicably. After being diagnosed in 2011 with Colon Cancer, I fought and won the battle against Crusty, my tumor nemesis. I was given opportunities to engage others in conversation about colon cancer here locally through speaking engagements, volunteering with a local organization called Our Hearts, Our Families, Our Community, and helping spread the word about other events in our area that helped families in need. I became familiar with web design, promoting events and made media connections by speaking on the radio and television regarding various non-profit organizations.
Currently, as of March 2014, I am again fighting a battle against my new colon cancer tumor, affectionately called "Smarmy." While the tumor has been removed, I am undergoing 6 months of chemotherapy for preventative measure. It isn't fun, but I can honestly say that I'm thankful for cancer.
Cancer has given me more opportunities than I could have dreamed of to make a difference in this world and in the lives of others. The motto Live Live, Love Life, Impact Others, has been adopted as my life's mission. I want to help others do the same. By combining my enthusiasm for life and acquired knowledge of media, promotion and marketing, I desire to help others impact our world.
One of the songs that has helped me to get through my major things in life is by Bob Marley, called Three Little Birds. My own Three Little Birds and I sing this song to each other, and it comes over the speakers at the most amazing times... just when we need it. The phrase "Every little thing, gonna be alright" is exactly how I feel, no matter what the circumstance.
I am blessed. So are you. Being thankful for everything, including the stuff that seems "bad," can really add joy to your life. Let me help your business, non-profit, event or project promote its causes. I want to give back because I've been given so much. I can do this at a lower cost than most because I don't look at it as a job. It is fun for me and I know I am helping others by doing so.

I enjoy writing, networking, shooting hoops, speaking on the radio with Oliver X as his sidekick on The Reno Tahoe Tonight Show, appearing daily as a guest talking head on NBC News Channel 4 with Melissa Carlson, teaching English to at-risk high schoolers and spending time with my Three Little Birds in the beautiful Tahoe area. Maddie, Kate and Thomas are amazing and give me hope that this world will be a better place because they are in it.
